We have a number of Crew Manager vacancies and are looking to offer roles meeting applicant’s interest. Vacancies are in each of the following academies:
- Firefighting Academy
- Incident Command Academy
- Rescue Academy
- Water Rescue Academy
What you’ll do
- Train/coach/assess operational colleagues in the application of Incident Command.
- Train/coach/assess operational colleagues in the application of firefighting tactics, including breathing apparatus
- Train/coach/assess operational colleagues in the application of water rescue techniques
- Train/coach/assess operational colleagues in the application of rescues from vehicles
- Provide appropriate feedback to develop colleagues.
- Maintain operational competencies by completing shifts at fire stations within Kent.
What you’ll bring
- Experience in delivering training in the adult education environment.
- ICS Level 1 – (Ideally SFJ Level 3 award – command assessments must also be successfully completed) – check “you are eligible to apply if you are:” for further details.
- IOSH Managing Safely (or equivalent) (desirable)
- Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) or equivalent (desirable)
- Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA) or equivalent (desirable).
- A passion and drive to deliver excellence in training.
You are eligible to apply if you are:
- Applying externally as a substantive wholetime crew manager and signed off as competent in your current role. (Incident command level 1 or initial – preferably SJF, required to be held at point of application. Evidence of qualification and full CPD log to be provided. Incident command assessment, presentation and debriefing assessments will be carried out)
- Applying externally as a substantive wholetime firefighter and signed off ready for promotion (Incident command level 1 or initial – preferably SJF, required to be held at point of application. Evidence of qualification and full CPD log to be provided. Incident command assessment, presentation and debriefing assessments will be carried out)
- Applying as a recently retired (within 12-months of application) or soon to be retired (within 6-months of application) KFRS firefighter (or higher).
(Incident command level 1 or initial – preferably SJF, required to be held at point of application. Incident command assessment, presentation and debriefing assessments will be carried out)
- Applying internally as an on-call substantive crew manager and signed off as competent in your current role.
- Applying internally as an on-call substantive firefighter signed off as ready for promotion through TBR.
- Able to meet the essential criteria in the job description/personal specification (JDPS)

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to interview and to deliver a 15-minute presentation on how to inspire learning in KFRS.
