Digital Developer – Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service
About the role
This isn’t your average developer role. Every day at CFRS brings new challenges, from working on automation projects that streamline our service operations to enhancing integrations between front-line teams, support functions, and external partners.
In this role, you’ll:
– Build robust and scalable solutions using C#, SSIS and IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE) as well as working with IBM Business Process Management (BPM) and M365 tools (including MS Power Apps and MS Power Automate) to improve efficiency across the service.
– Develop, maintain, and integrate Web Services and APIs, helping us connect and enhance third-party applications.
– Solve complex technical challenges in collaboration with our Development Team, ensuring our systems meet both operational and strategic needs.
– Work closely with stakeholders across CFRS, understanding their requirements and delivering solutions that make a real difference to how we work.
– Uphold best practices in development, ensuring consistency, high standards, and quality across all our digital projects.
– Contribute to technical documentation and user guides, helping support teams and end-users get the most from our systems.

About You
We welcome applications from all backgrounds and experiences but the ideal person will have:
– Expertise in software development tools and applications, how to install, start and configure an integrated development environment for example
– Strong SQL knowledge and experience using database technologies.
– Experience of working in a software development environment
– Experience of using web & cloud technologies
– Experience in supplier management and collaborative working approaches
– Ability to read and write in a programming language such as C#, Python, Java
– A problem-solving mindset – someone who enjoys tackling challenges and delivering practical solutions.
– Great communication skills, working effectively in a team and providing support to non-technical colleagues.
– A commitment to confidentiality, security, and best practice development standards.
– An agile mindset, with experience working in or alongside agile project teams.
Salary: £42,749 - £48,654 pa
Contract type: Full Time
