Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Advisor – Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service

Hours: Full Time – 37 hours per week

Location: The service encourages flexible working and believes that work is what you do not where you do it. The role will be based at Service Headquarters, Salisbury with the flexibility to work from home / DWFRS Stations / Support Offices and we would welcome a conversation with the successful candidate on what type of flexible working arrangement will work best for you. There will be a requirement to attend any Service location for key activities and meetings.

As the Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Advisor you will:

  • Be encouraged to network and innovate to promote and increase inclusion for all.
  • Work with the Equality Diversity and Inclusion Support Officer to coordinate and deliver ED&I training to all new and existing staff.
  • Provide a wide range of support to the ED&I Support Officer and ED&I Manager to include arranging Culture Development Committee Meetings and supporting staff network meetings, production of minutes and ensuring meeting actions are completed.
  • Collate ED&I survey information from new starters, reviewing and analysing reports to collate information for consideration and action by the ED&I Support Officer and ED&I Manager.
  • Provide day to day management of the People Impact Assessment (PIA) process, providing advice to managers ensuring that PIAs are completed at the correct level and are regularly updated.

  • Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience in ED&I or HR.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Equality Diversity and Inclusion legislation.
  • Previous recent, relevant experience in similar role carrying out a range of administration tasks.
  • Ability to interpret guidelines and procedures to problem solve and provide advice.
  • Being a passionate ambassador for fairness, equity, diversity and inclusion and brimming with ideas to promote these.

Other Information:

  • You must have a full current driving licence and be able to fulfil the travel requirements of the role. Use of your own vehicle will be required; however, a Service vehicle may be available. Please note: Service vehicles are manual transmission only. As a Disability Confident Employer, we welcome applications if you meet the criteria for the role, but may require adjustments or accommodations for travel. The travel requirements of the role are not the same every week, but the successful post-holder should be prepared to travel within the Service area 2-3 days a week.
  • The role involves some evening work to support the delivery of ED&I training to staff, including operational on-call staff at drill nights.
  • A Standard Disclosure & Barring Service Check (DBS) clearance will be undertaken on the successful individual prior to offer of employment.

Salary: £31,537 – £33,143 per annum (rising by annual increments to £33,143)
