Fire and Road Safety Manager – West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service

Working Pattern: Full-time, 37 hours per week.
Contract Length: Permanent.
Location: Bognor Regis Fire Station, a typical week will combine working with the Community Prevention Team in the Office along with attendance at other locations around the County. There is also the opportunity to work at home depending on service needs.
Help save lives and shape safer communities as part of West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service. We’re looking for a dynamic, community-focused individual to lead and support fire and road safety initiatives that reduce risk, prevent emergencies, and protect lives.
In this varied and rewarding role, you’ll:
• Drive fire and road safety campaigns across West Sussex.
• Work closely with fire crews and key partners to tackle risks like house fires, arson, and road collisions.
• Support our Community Risk Management Plan by identifying local risks and developing creative engagement activities.
• Represent WSFRS at multi-agency meetings with schools, councils, police, and more.
• Oversee safety activities delivered by teams, volunteers, and partners.
• Be at the heart of improvement projects shaping the future of community safety.
• Manage a Team of Fire, Road Safety and Multi Agency professionals to deliver the Service Business plan.

What we are looking for:
• Expert knowledge of fire and road safety, with the ability to advise, influence, and represent WSFRS across multi-agency settings.
• Strong communicator with proven ability to engage, negotiate, and influence stakeholders for positive outcomes.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the credibility to work effectively with customers, partners, and senior leaders.
• Analytical thinker with the ability to assess complex data and develop strategic, risk-balanced solutions.
• Highly organised with the ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and manage teams and partner activities.
• Collaborative approach with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners.
• Full UK driving license.
• Proven experience handling complex issues with strong analytical, problem-solving skills.
• Skilled in analysing and presenting large data sets clearly and effectively.
• Experience managing staff and overseeing budgets.

Salary: £46,731 to £49,764 per annum
