Fire Community Prevention Advisor – Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service

Cornwall Fire & Rescue Service is a key part of Cornwall Council’s Neighbourhoods Directorate, delivering emergency response, prevention, and protection services across the county. Our mission is to keep people safe by reducing risk and improving resilience within our communities.

The Prevention Team plays a vital role in achieving this mission by focusing on proactive measures to prevent fires, road traffic collisions, and other emergencies. We work collaboratively with internal teams, council services, and external partners to deliver targeted interventions, education programmes, and community engagement activities.

Our approach is evidence-based, using data and risk analysis to inform decisions and ensure resources are directed where they will have the greatest impact. The Role:

This is a public/customer-facing role, where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies.

This position will be subject to an enhanced criminal record disclosure check.

Cornwall Fire & Rescue Service is seeking a dedicated and professional Fire Community Prevention Advisor to support the delivery of our Community Risk Management Plan (CRMP). This role is integral to promoting fire and road safety, safeguarding vulnerable individuals, and enhancing community resilience through evidence-based prevention initiatives.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively across the Fire and Rescue Service, wider Council teams, and external partners to design, implement, and evaluate prevention programmes that address identified risks and deliver measurable outcomes.
Working Pattern:
We would like for the successful applicant to work the 0.8 FTE 29.6 hrs over 4 days, 7.4 hrs a day. Monday – Thursday. However green book terms do offer a flexible working options.

What you’ll need to succeed:

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships.

Creativity and innovation in developing prevention initiatives.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting community safety.
Experience in community engagement, education, or public safety is desirable, although full training will be provided.
