Fire & Rescue National Resilience Capability Officer

Flood Rescue – Station Manager ‘B’ Flexi

Secondment: 9 months – 1 July 2024 – 31 March 2025

The Fire & Rescue National Resilience team is looking to second for the position of Flood Rescue Capability Officer. Applications for secondment are invited from individuals within the Fire & Rescue Service sector who are either substantive and competent at Watch Manager level or are at Station Manager level. Those applying must have operational experience of working with Flood Rescue.

Background

The National Resilience programme is an essential part of Government’s arrangements to protect the national infrastructure in the event of catastrophic incidents. Within the Fire and Rescue Service the Government has invested over £200 million on vehicles, equipment, training and procedures to provide the best possible response capability. This includes equipment to deal with mass decontamination, urban search and rescue, flooding and command and control. A network of Capability Officers, Capability Advisors and National Strategic Advisors form part of the team to support the National Resilience programme in accordance with the National Coordination and Advisory Framework (NCAF).

The Role

The role will support the delivery of the agreement between the National Resilience Lead Authority and DEFRA to assure, maintain and co-ordinate national assets and Tactical Advisers for Flood Rescue.

You will provide operational cover for National Resilience as directed and in accordance with the Lead    Authority rota system.  In addition, you will operate to support the National Co-ordination Advisory Framework (NCAF).
