Group Commander – Taunton Response Group – Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service has a fantastic opportunity available for a Group Commander to join our team based in Taunton Response Group on a permanent contract.

Key responsibilities of our Group Commander – Taunton Response Group will include:

– Support delivery of the organisational vision and priorities aligned to Our Plan.
– Enable alignment of core functions and statutory responsibilities to the Integrated Risk Management Plan.
– Accountability for the availability of operational assets in their geographical area.
– Deliver the Service Delivery Strategic Plan objectives through consistent and effective communication with all staff and external partners.
– Add value to and influence SLT decision making.

From 1 April, we are introducing development rates of pay for any new individuals moving into a development or an acting-up role. These pay rates are set out by the National Joint Council.

Applications are invited from existing suitably experienced and qualified Station Managers and Group Managers. Eligible applicants will need to meet the following criteria as a minimum:

– Be a competent Station Manager
– Able to demonstrate/evidence significant leadership experience
– Not subject to formal performance improvement actions, nor have any live disciplinary sanctions
– As part of our selection process you will be required to undertake a Leading the Function Assessment Centre.
