Phoenix Trainer – Tyne & Wear Fire and Rescue Service
About the role
We are seeking to fill an upcoming vacancy for the role of Phoenix Trainer.
Reporting directly to the Diversionary Activities Manager, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating and delivering engaging activities that support young people’s personal development and contribute to positive community outcomes.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to the TWFRS Values of Safety, Integrity, Inclusivity and Learning, and champion these in their day‑to‑day work. They will also demonstrate and the highest standards of ethical behaviours and champion these in their day-to-day work in compliance with our ethical code of conduct.

As a Phoenix Trainer you will:
• Support and mentor young people, monitoring their behaviour, progress and achievements.
• Deliver safe, engaging and practical Fire and Rescue Service–based activities that inspire and motivate participants.
• Assist in planning, developing and reviewing Phoenix Programme activities to ensure they are safe, relevant and effective.
We are seeking a candidate who has demonstrable experience of:
• Delivering practical training within a relevant uniformed service (ideally with operational firefighting experience).
• Working with and support young and vulnerable people in an educational or supervisory setting.

Pre-employment Checks
The successful applicant will be subject to our pre-employment screening process which includes an Enhanced DBS check relevant to the role, completion of an occupational health medical and a substance abuse test. We will also conduct right to work and reference checks.

Salary: £29,540 to £31,022 per annum + benefits (Pro-rata)
