PPE & Systems Officer – Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service
As a PPE and Systems Officer in the Assets Department you will:
• Be responsible for providing and managing the Service wide PPE function to minimise operational impact. This includes the issue of a wide range of PPE, stock management (Agresso, Asset Management System), contract management and project support as well as working with the Supplies Manager to implement new working practices.
• Act as the main point of contact for internal staff for the Online Supplies Catalogue, manage the Services laundry contract and assist with overall budget management within the PPE and Supplies remit.
• Manage the Respiratory Protection Equipment (RPE) programme, be responsible for the inspection, testing, maintenance and repair of PPE items and ensure the asset management database and records are maintained.
What makes you our ideal PPE and Systems Officer:
• You will meet the essential criteria as listed on the person specification.
• You will have an IOSH Managing Safely Certificate or willingness to work towards this / demonstrable equivalent level experience in a PPE environment.
• You will have a valid in date Category C Driving Licence.
• You will have previous experience of working within the guidelines of the Personal Protective Equipment at Work Regulations 1992.
• You will have working knowledge of H&S legislation and its application specific to PPE within a Supplies environment.
• You will have experience of developing and managing systems and processes.
• You will have proven experience of building and maintaining working relationships with a wide range of contacts, both internal and external.

- You must have a full current driving licence and be able to fulfil the occasional travel requirements of the role. Use of your own vehicle will be required; however, a Service vehicle may be available. Please note Service vehicles are manual transmission only. If you are unable to drive due to a disability, we would still welcome your application and will explore any reasonable adjustments that could be put in place.
- The role involves some evening and weekend working. This would include working one evening a month to support the team with the face fitting service.
- A Standard Disclosure & Barring Service Check (DBS) clearance will be undertaken on the successful individual prior to offer of employment.
- Any offer of employment will be subject to full pre-employment checks which include identity checks, right to work in the UK, medical and receipt of satisfactory references, and an explanation of any gaps in employment in the last 3 years.
- Should the duration of this fixed term contract exceed a period of 6 months, the successful postholder would be required to adhere to the requirements of a Health Surveillance Programme and attend an Occupational health appointment for baseline readings.
- Should a permanent position arise in the team during the period of your Fixed Term Contract, that is substantially similar to the role you are carrying out, you may be considered for the role in the first instance.

Salary: £31,364 per annum rising by annual increments to £33,945 (pay award pending)
