Being Station Manager – Technical Rescue

You will be an aspiring, modern, and progressive-thinking colleague who will lead our Technical Rescue Team.

You will work in a pivotal role with KFRS partners in the co-ordination of multi-agency activities; communicating national, organisational and local information including operational practices to the team to support the achievement of customer centred service.

Working with colleagues across the organisation your main responsibilities are to support the National Resilience (NR) Capability responses to operational incidents, both nationally and locally.

What you’ll do:

  • Demonstrate the required behaviours in line with the ‘Leading the Function’ section of the NFCC Leadership Framework, challenging others when they fall below that standard.
  • Be responsible for the support and regular review of managers and their colleagues in line with the response strategy. Ensuring standards and maintenance of competence, teamwork in line with health and safety & people standards [EDI, behaviour & conduct], challenging and providing feedback where necessary.
  • Have responsibility for the development and implementation of working practices for the Technical Rescue team with National Resilience USAR partners.
  • Delivery of Kent USAR team to meet the National USAR Concept of Operations

We operate a 24/7 on call flexi duty rota system, therefore you must reside in Kent while on duty. The role is subject to locally agreed terms and conditions.

Eligibility and how to apply:

If you have a Technical Rescue, National Resilience or USAR background and work full time for a UK Fire & Rescue Service and are:-

  • A qualified USAR Technician or USAR Tactical Advisor, and
  • Are an existing Station Manager looking for a sideways move, or
  • A Watch Manager ready for your next promotion
