Salary: £65,690 (development) – £72,054 (competent B) + 28% gold rota and Incident command responsibility allowance p.a.

Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service is seeking applications from motivated and positive leaders to help build on our achievements through continuous improvement. We are seeking to recruit to our Area Commander talent pool which will remain live to fill future Area Commander vacancies over the next 18 months as they arise. Applicants must be prepared to serve in any Area Commander post across the Service. On attaining a substantive Area Commander role, applicants must provide an agreed response base whilst providing operational cover on the Area Commander duty system. A car will be provided.

Due to the base location of some posts in buildings shared with Police colleagues, any offer of contract will be subject to satisfactory Police Management vetting (MV) and enhanced DBS.

Applications are invited from competent, substantive Group Commanders or existing Area Commanders. All external applicants will be required to complete an application form, references will also be requested from current service line managers.

The successful applicants will be placed into the Area Commander Talent Pool for a period of 18 months and will move into temporary/substantive Area Commander position if they become available.
