Prevention Hub
NFCC launched a new organisational structure which provides a more integrated model of working. Within the Continuous Improvement Directorate, the new NFCC Prevention Hub brings together the Prevention Programme and Children and Young People (CYP) Portfolio. The work of the Prevention Hub is directed and scrutinised by the Prevention Committee (and its associated structures).
The Prevention Hub sits within the Service Delivery Department of the Continuous Improvement Directorate and operates as a BAU function, alongside the Protection Hub and the Operational Response and Control Hub, enabling better shared learning and opportunities.
The Prevention Hub was established on 1st April 2023 to
- Provide support to the Prevention national and regional infrastructures, which will influence and support Fire and Rescue Services (FRSs) to deliver prevention activity.
- Produce a range of guidance, tools, risk assessments and training resources, to enable FRSs to work towards achieving the Prevention Fire Standard and Safeguarding Fire Standard and support implementation of any legislative change.
- Identify and manage new and emerging prevention work.
The work of the Prevention Hub is directed and scrutinised by the Prevention Committee (and its terms of reference and associated structures). The NFCC Prevention Committee leads and directs work in accordance with the objectives and actions identified in NFCC’s Annual Plan.
NFCC Committees are select groups of interested and knowledgeable subject matter experts (SMEs). They are appointed to consider, explore, take action or report on matters relating to their topic. They are a pool of knowledge and experience. They monitor on-going activity, identify issues for review, and recommend actions.
Prevention Committee SMEs from across the fire and rescue service work closely with NFCC staff to deliver the objectives of the NFCC Prevention Hub. Â
To support prevention work and Prevention Committee, the NFCC Prevention Programme was created as a temporary structure to deliver improvement with new funding from the Home Office Improvement Grant. The Prevention Programme Strategy comprised multiple projects which were monitored and scrutinised by project boards and the Programme Board.
The Prevention Programme has now transferred its resources to BAU and now operates as the new NFCC Prevention Hub.
