Deputy Chief Fire Officer – Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service

As a member of the Community Protection Directorate’s Strategic Executive Board (SEB) and Strategic Leadership Group (SLG), lead and manage HCC’s Community Protection Directorate supporting the reshaping of the Directorate to deliver the structures and ways of working (including integration of blue light services) that will be necessary to operate successfully in the reduced financial circumstances available to the public sector.

You will be responsible for:

• leading and providing strategic direction for HCCs Community Protection Directorate
• overall development and delivery of the strategic Community Protection plans and influencing the development of local, regional, and national strategies and policies for Fire and Rescue
• developing relationships with key stakeholders, advising and supporting members, and the Executive Leadership Board, and Senior Management Board and providing visionary leadership to seniors within the directorate
• enhancing an open, transparent, positive and inclusive service culture and environment
• maintaining financial control of all delegated budgets
• playing an active role in regional national committees as appropriate
• deputising for the Executive Director of Community Protection & Chief Fire Officer on all matters as required, including providing operational command at a strategic level
