Reward and Recognition Partner – West Midlands Fire Service

Reporting to the Senior HR & EDI Business Partner, the Reward and Recognition Business Partner will play a vital role in ensuring that our reward and recognition strategy attracts and rewards our people.  You will lead on the development of our reward strategy, ensuring that our people are recognised and rewarded for the excellent work that they do.

In particular, you will:

  • Develop and embed an innovative reward and recognition strategy which attracts and retain excellent people
  • Create a holistic recognition plan for employee recognition, considering both formal and informal, and local and service wide methods
  • Develop a pay and grading structure which is attractive and fit for purpose
  • Ensure that they organisation has an understanding of pay, reward, and recognition data through a diversity and inclusion lens
  • Enhance our Employee Value Proposition (EVP) but ensuring that our benefits offering is attractive and fit for a modern workplace
  • Foster an environment for continuous development – ensuring that trends are understood and that learning leads to positive changes within practice

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Experience of working in a similar role, ideally within the public sector
  • To hold (or be working towards) a CIPD level 5 qualification will be preferred, but not essential
  • Experience of developing reward and recognition strategies within a innovative organisation, across dispersed locations
  • Excellent communication skills, together with the ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels and build credibility quickly.
  • Highly flexible and adaptable with an enthusiastic approach and a “can do” attitude.
  • Experience of working with trade unions
  • Ability to challenge standard processes and drive improvements.
