Assistant Business Partner – Events and Campaigns – Avon Fire and Rescue Service

Summary

• Work closely with the People Services department to identify opportunities to host events for our staff to work together, share learning, network and celebrate.
• Support recruitment campaigns, working closely with teams responsible.
• Responsible for timely, effective and targeted online and digital communications across the website, intranet and social media platforms.
• Build rapport and relationships with colleagues across the organisation, acting as a trusted communications advisor.
• Work with the wider Communications Team to decide on branding and design marketing materials, ensuring they are produced on time to the required standard.
• Ensure that all marketing communication literature and materials produced are accessible to a wide variety of audiences and appropriately branded in line with the brand guidelines.
• Be prepared to be part of a rota providing out-of-hours media cover, which includes the duties of updating social media, liaising with the press in relation to incidents, political or sensitive information, attending incidents in line with mobilising procedures and acting as an official spokesperson for Avon Fire & Rescue Service.
• Be prepared to provide reactive crisis communications support in response to a significant organisational issue or major incident.

What we will need from you

Essential:

• Degree (or equivalent Level 6 qualification) in a relevant subject such as communication or events, or able to demonstrate an equivalent level of theoretical and professional knowledge.
• A sound understanding of the importance of involving the ‘user’ in the planning process.
• Understanding and awareness of diverse cultural, demographic and neurodiverse considerations.
• Experience within the field of events/activity/project management and delivery.
• Experience in the use of and generating content for social media.
• Demonstrable skills in events planning and management.
• Ability to build rapport, positively persuade and use communication effectively to influence the decision-making process.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and web-based applications.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, and an ability to communicate confidently and professionally at all levels.
• Be innovative with the ability to think creatively and present new ideas clearly.
• Able to prioritise, work to deadlines, be flexible and manage time effectively with minimal supervision.
• Able to drive with a full current valid driving licence, or ability to arrange suitable alternative transport to travel to various work locations.

Desirable:

• Knowledge, experience and application of crisis communications.
• Relevant experience in a media environment, particularly of dealing with the media crafting briefings and statements, and giving interviews.
• Experience of working in a social media or public relations environment.
• Experience of working with budgets.
• Experience of photography and filming

Salary: £31,586 - £34,314
