LGV/HGV Technician – West Midlands Fire Service
Working Hours
37 Hour week – consisting of 2 work patterns
Early work pattern 07.00hrs – 15.00hrs Monday – Thursday
07.00hrs – 14.30hrs Friday
Late Pattern 11.00hrs – 19.00hrs Monday-Thursday
11.00hrs – 18.30hrs Friday
An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Transport Engineering workshops, based in Perry Barr Birmingham, for a forward-thinking individual, who can manage their own workload efficiently.
Your responsibilities will include carrying out servicing and repairs to a varied fleet of LGV/PCV emergency vehicles along with vans, cars and ancillary equipment at our main workshop based in Perry Barr Birmingham, or on location at nominated departments or Stations within the West Midlands area.
We are seeking candidates who can demonstrate the aptitude to manage multiple technical / practical disciplines to a consistently high-quality standard. You will be required to process all documentation associated within your role. You will also be expected to work individually or as part of a team and mentor apprentices where necessary.

Experience and skills:
Essential skills or experience
full light vehicle driving licence
can undertake physically strenuous tasks and have a strong knowledge of manual handling principles
willing to attend training courses both in house and away from home if necessary
knowledge of the construction and use regulations
trade qualifications City and guilds or NVQ equivalents to level 3, National craft Certificate (Or Equivalent)
LGV/PCV category C licence. Training will be given to the correct candidate.
Desirable skills or experience
Knowledge of vehicle electrics, hydraulics, plant maintenance, vehicle recovery and attendance of vehicle manufacturers courses
PCV cat D licence
able to wear respiratory equipment if necessary.
Salary: £37,035 – £38,626 + 4% inconvenience allowance = (£38,516 - £40,171).
