Expressions of Interest are invited from UK FRS strategic managers to take on the voluntary role of NFCC National Business Engagement lead.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to become the NFCC lead role for Business Engagement within the Fire Safety arena.  The role will be for a two year period followed by a review.

Protection receives a lot of national attention and it is an exciting but equally challenging time to be involved in this field of work.  There is a real opportunity to build on the great work of the previous lead and further develop stakeholder relationships that will promote wider fire safety understanding and compliance, ultimately helping to make the places we visit and work safer for all.

The role is predominately about supporting businesses to comply with their regulatory responsibilities and educating on how compliance can help businesses grow. The role can cover all sectors, including the ongoing oversight and progression of the Higher Risk accommodation group.  Some of the stakeholders include Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, Office for Product Safety and Standards, Care Quality Commission, English Heritage and National Trust.

The successful candidate will be required:

  • To actively engage in the promotion of fire safety at a national level, interacting with both government departments and the wider business community.
  • Be responsible for updating the NFCC and wider FRS community on current challenges, best practice and opportunities, all with the overall objectives of developing better business engagement and awareness.
  • Will report to the Protection Committee which consists of other National leads and regional representatives.

We are looking for a strategic manager who has:

  • Experience of engaging at a national level with multiple stakeholders and the wider industry sector.
  • A good understanding of the current fire safety landscape and particularly the challenges in reaching the wider business community.
  • A great communicator, who has a real passion for Protection and wants to drive forward business engagement.
  • Have previous experience of building a network of effective relationships and bringing partners together to achieve a common goal.
