Fire Safety Intervention Consultation

Closing Date: 19/12/2025

Consultation Status: Open

Introduction

To strengthen the fire sector’s role in delivering fire safety interventions to children and young people who misuse fire, the NFCC has developed a fire safety guidance document.  This initiative is being led by NFCC’s fire safety intervention support officer, Melanie O’Hare and AM Matt Gillatt, NFCC Fire Safety Intervention Lead, South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.

The Fire Safety Intervention Guidance document provides comprehensive support and direction; clearly signposting pathways aligned with best practice. It serves as a central access point via the NFCC website, offering practitioners up-to-date information that complements other NFCC products.

The NFCC is committed to regularly reviewing published guidance to ensure it remains relevant and beneficial to the sector.

This consultation aims to gather feedback from UK fire and rescue services on the Fire Safety Intervention Guidance. Your insights are invaluable in shaping the next phase of this project, and we welcome your contributions.

If you would like to prepare your response, you can review the questions in advance. There is also a save and continue function that can be used throughout the consultation so that you can return to your response later and pick up where you left off.
