Organisational Learning Good Practice Guide consultation

Closing Date: 17/07/2025

Consultation Status: Open

Introduction

The draft Organisational Learning – Good Practice Guide is an evolution of the existing Operational Learning – Good Practice Guide. This evolution comes as we look to build upon the good work established through Operational Learning over the last 10 years and broadening the scope to consider how we process and share learning from all fire and rescue service activity.

We recommend that you familiarise yourself with the draft guidance and consultation questions before completing your feedback online: Organisational Learning Good Practice Guide Draft document

Whilst it has been shared with you today as a Word document, the final product will be digital content on our NFCC website. Our intention will be to add to toolkits and templates to assist fire and rescue services in the development of their own Organisational Learning processes once this framework has been agreed and published.

This consultation is split into two parts. It starts with 3 questions about organisational learning in your service, before asking for your feedback on each section of the draft document.

Please provide sufficient detail in your comments for us to determine what content they relate to, along with the line number in the document. If you wish to suggest any additional content or corrections for the draft guidance, there is a question at the end of the survey where you can provide details of your sources of information. This could be a link to a website or the title of a publication.

If you would like to prepare your response in advance, you can review the questions here: OL Good Practice guide consultation questions. This must not be submitted instead of completing the online survey.

There is also a save and continue function that can be used throughout the consultation so that you can return to your response later. If you use this option, you will be sent an email with a link to enable you to continue the survey.

This survey will close at the end of the day on Thursday, 17 July 2025. If you have any questions, or experience any difficulties in completing the survey, please email the NFCC Operational Response and Fire Control Hub: opsandcontrolhub@nfcc.org.uk

The consultation can be found here.

Thank you for taking the time to respond to this consultation.
