Wildfires Prevention toolkit consultation
Closing Date: 15/01/2026
Consultation Status: Open
Introduction
The Wildfire Prevention Toolkit has been developed in partnership with the National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC) and Fire and Rescue Services across the UK and supports the NFCC Wildfire Position Statement. The toolkit’s purpose is to support both Fire and Rescue Services and local communities by providing clear guidance, practical advice, and useful resources on how to reduce the risk of wildfires.
The toolkit includes information on wildfire causes, prevention strategies, community engagement, and ways to protect people, property, and the environment. It is designed to help fire and rescue services and residents work together to better prepare for and prevent wildfires in our communities.
If you are a fire and rescue service working with landowners or land managers, you may find the wildfire response plan template and the accompanying guidance beneficial. Both of these have been included as appendices to this toolkit.
A wildfire response plan contains specific risk and tactical information for fire and rescue service personnel responding to wildfire incidents on or near a particular site or location. The template can be adapted to suit the needs of individual fire and rescue services, and not all areas will be relevant to all services.
We would be interested in your thoughts on these documents, in terms of whether they are adequate for your needs and whether any improvements could be made.
If you would like to prepare your response, you can review the questions in advance. There is also a save and continue function that can be used throughout the consultation so that you can return to your response later and pick up where you left off.
This survey will close end of the day Thursday 15 January 2026. If you have any questions, please contact Prevention Coordinator, Lianne Partridge.
Thank you for taking the time to respond to this consultation.
