Content Specialist – NFCC

Department: Content & Guidance 

Contract type:  Permanent 

Hours: 37 per week

Salary Level:  Circa £45,100 per annum

Location:  Home Based (UK wide travel as required) 

Reports To:  Head of Content & Guidance 

About this role 

In this role, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and publishing high quality NFCC technical content and guidance that aligns with our strategic objectives. Working closely with subject matter experts, you will ensure our materials are clear, consistent, and written in the NFCC’s unified voice. 

You will guide teams through the correct processes for creating and approving content, offer expert advice on publication requirements, and ensure all outputs clearly define actions, outcomes, and opportunities for the fire and rescue community. 

You will work collaboratively across the NFCC Service Delivery hubs and other NFCC functions to develop cross cutting information to support incidents as required.

What You’ll Bring 

  • Significant experience in technical writing, proofreading, copyediting, and creating digitalfirst content that is clear, accessible and tailored to diverse audiences. 
  • A proactive approach, taking responsibility for both collaborative tasks and individual deliverables.. 
  • Strong communication skills, offering constructive challenge and sharing your ideas to support high quality outcomes. 
  • Excellent relationship building abilities, building strong professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support effective content development. 
  • Confidence using a variety of IT systems, with strong keyboard and language skills. 
  • A solid understanding of governance processes related to content approval and publication. 
  • Awareness of political and commercial sensitivities, ensuring information is handled appropriately and in line with the Data Protection Act, Freedom of Information Act, and Government Security Classifications. 
  • A commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion, ensuring all NFCC products and tools consider and support a diverse range of end users. 
  • Providing assurance of copyediting quality within the Content and Guidance team.
