Expression of Interest Inter Service Transfer & Promotional Pathway – Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service

GMFRS are a progressive, inclusive, and innovative Fire & Rescue Service, who strive to always be the best at what we do and how we do it. This approach is reflected throughout the organisation, when supporting each other in all we do. We are currently seeking expressions of interest from Wholetime competent Firefighters – Area Managers (currently employed by a UK Local Authority Fire Service on a Wholetime contract) who are interested in transferring to Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service and wish to be considered for any upcoming Inter-Service Transfer or Promotion Pathway processes once they open.

At this time, on-call Firefighters are still required to apply via our current Wholetime vacancies. Please find the expression of interest here

Eligibility to express your interest:

Demonstrable competence as your permanent Wholetime rank (FF-AM) within a UK Fire and Rescue Service throughout the last two years (proof of contract and up to date training records will be required)

Operational awareness or competence at current rank.

Currently not under any live sanctions, capability, performance, or disciplinary procedures

Willingness and ability to be posted to and work from any location within the Greater Manchester boundary

Driving license (Category B) with access to own vehicle

Please Note:

– All Wholetime applicants must be conditioned to a permanent wholetime duty system, working an average of 42 hours per week
