New resource available: NFCC’s Document Transformation Suite
NFCC’s Digital, Data, and Technology Team has recently launched the Document Transformation Portal. This suite of tools includes Document Translate and Simply Readable and is available to be used by all fire and rescue services. The suite contains tools which can translate critical safety information for individuals and businesses into over 75 different languages. It can also create easier-to-read versions of longer and more complex documents, improving communication with communities and allowing services to get targeted information to people as they need it.
What is Document Translate?Â
NFCC is working with CityTrax to bring our members the ability to translate documents to and from around 75 different languages using AI. We have undertaken testing through a multi-service working group and reviewed case studies from other users and are confident in the results.Â
A key difference between simply using an online translation tool is that the formatting of your document will be preserved, and images, logos, email addresses are also recognised and kept intact.
What is Simply Readable?Â
Simply Readable takes long or complex documents and produces easier to read versions within a few minutes and is included in the Document Transformation Portal.Â
Incorporating Simply Readable into your everyday processes can enhance the accessibility of documents and foster inclusivity.Â
Potential use cases:Â
- Sharing of safety information around events and holidaysÂ
- Supporting Community Risk Management PlanningÂ
- Promoting business fire safetyÂ
- Helping to prevent and provide intervention to local businessesÂ
- Providing targeted information to higher risk individuals in their own language and in easily digestible formatsÂ
- Improving stakeholder engagement across communities.Â
How can members access these tools?Â
These tools are available to NFCC members, and can help promote and improve inclusion, engagement and representation. For have any questions or to have a Document Transformation account set up, please email NFCC’s DDaT team with Document Translate in the subject.Â
