Policy Position Statements

NFCC is the professional voice of UK fire and rescue services. NFCC’s policy position statements set out the agreed national view of fire and rescue services on important strategic and public policy issues. They explain what the sector thinks, why it matters for public and firefighter safety, and what actions we think the Government or other organisations should take.

Policy position statements are developed collaboratively. Experts within fire and rescue services, academia, and industry contribute their knowledge and professional expertise to shape the position, which is then agreed through NFCC’s democratic governance structures. This ensures that position statements reflect the collective, evidence-based view of fire and rescue services.

Position statements help government, regulators, partners, and the public to understand the sector’s perspective and our recommended actions on key issues. They are reviewed and updated regularly as policy develops and new priorities emerge.
