Background:

The current NFCC Operational Learning lead officer is due to commence the Organisational Learning lead officer role at the end of the year (2024).

The Operational Learning lead officer role sits directly under NFCC’s Operational Preparedness, Response and Resilience (OPRR) Committee.

This role will chair the National Operational Learning User Group and lead engagement with officers within FRSs, NFCC hub leads and key partners throughout the UK.

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Have a strong and consistent voice on the issues of Operational Learning.
  • Actively engage in our multi-agency approach to promote NFCCs strategy to strengthen the guidance and activity in this area.
  • Work with FRSs and partners to produce and update relevant guidance, position statements and resources to assist in good practice.
  • Have a good understanding of the issues and difference in approaches in devolved nations in UK.

The role involves:

  • Leading on matters relating to Operational Learning.
  • Charing the National Operational Learning User Group
  • Being responsible for updating the OPRR Committee and its workstreams on current challenges, best practice and opportunities, all with the overall objectives in this area.

We are looking for a strategic manager who has:

  • Experience of engaging at a national level with multiple stakeholders and the wider industry sector. This includes central government.
  • A good understanding of the current strategy, campaigns and challenges in this area at a local and/or national level.
  • A great communicator, who has a real passion for Operational Learning.
  • Has previous experience of bringing partners together to achieve a common goal.
