The application of the Extrication In Trauma (EXIT) Project supports the promotion of self-extrication for a casualty trapped in a mode of transport. This approach will be used by the emergency services or rescue organisations that are in attendance.
This requires some changes to the Fire Control Guidance and Training Specification for:
- The hazard, Calls from or about people at risk: Stranded on a road network (which has been retitled Calls from or about people at risk: Incidents involving a road vehicle)
- The control measure Situational awareness: People at risk on a road network (which has been retitled Situational awareness: People at risk – Incidents involving a road vehicle)
There are no changes to strategic actions from this update. This change request was approved by the NFCC Operational Preparedness, Response and Resilience Committee on 24 April 2025.
