The first edition of the fire and rescue service Rescue Boat Code was published in 2021 in PDF format in the Operational Guidance Knowledge Base. A review of that product has been carried out by the NFCC Inland Water & Technical Rescue Group and has been endorsed by the NFCC Lead for Water rescue.

The revised product was endorsed by the NFCC Operational Guidance Forum on 9 December 2024 and approved by the NFCC Operational Preparedness, Response and Resilience Committee on 22 January 2025. It has also been reviewed by the Maritime & Coastguard Agency.

The second edition has now been published in the NFCC Knowledge Base in webpage format although, as for all Operational Guidance products, this can be downloaded in PDF format if required. The table below summarises some of the changes in the second edition.
