Removal of three strategic actions

It has been brought to our attention that there are three strategic actions in the Fire Control Guidance that simply point users to the strategic actions of other control measures. We understand that this can cause problems when trying to evidence compliance with strategic actions because of this ‘circular’ dependency.

We have therefore decided to delete the following strategic actions:

• SA18500 – Follow strategic actions for Protect people at risk: Survival guidance
• SA18550 – Follow strategic actions for Assist the rescue of people at risk: Survival guidance and Assist the rescue of people at risk: Water survival guidance
• SA18583 – Follow strategic actions for Situational awareness: Survival guidance, Situational awareness: Water survival guidance and Situational awareness: Water survival guidance for people in moving water

As an interim measure, you will see that the ‘strapline’ at the top of the control measures they appeared in now contain the wording ‘This control measure should be read in conjunction with the control measure knowledge and strategic actions for…’. We hope this will impart the dependency without forcing you to potentially incorrectly mark strategic actions as completed.

When the affected control measures are next reviewed, the team will be able to develop some more specific strategic actions.
