West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS) is the second largest fire and rescue service in England, serving an area of 902km square and a population of more than 2.9 million people.

Our vision is ‘Making the West Midlands safer, stronger and healthier’.

This vision and the strategic goals outlined in ‘Our Strategy’ are what drives the people, professionalism and pride with which we serve our communities.

Under the leadership of the Community Outreach Team Leader, you will manage your case load to deliver community-based visits to deliver prevention and education interventions in a range of settings, including in people’s homes and educational establishments. You will work with adults with a range of complex needs, aiding them to reduce the risk of fire in their homes. You will also work with children and young people who may have complex needs. They could display fire setting behaviour or have an unhealthy interest in fire, so you’ll provide education around actions and consequences.

You will have a passion for supporting those with multiple complex needs, and be comfortable carrying a defined case load, working with professionals who have shared responsibilities for your client’s health and support needs. Your interventions will support individuals, and reduce their risk and vulnerability to fire, improving their health, safety, wellbeing and quality of life. You’ll also be a team player, and comfortable working in a variety of settings.
