Expressions of Interest are invited from UK FRS strategic managers to take on the voluntary role of NFCC Fire Setting and Anti-Social Behaviour Lead Officer.

NFCC has produced its second iteration of the Arson and Deliberate Fire Reduction Strategy. The strategy supports the NFCC strategic commitment to reduce community risk and vulnerability through the reduction of arson and deliberate fire setting.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to become the NFCC lead role for Arson and Deliberate Fires which will report directly into the Prevention Committee.

The role is predominately about supporting the work in the Strategy which sets out our approach to achieve a sustained reduction in both the incidence and consequences of arson and deliberate fires by providing guidance to fire and rescue services to strengthen their existing deliberate fire reduction activities. This role will lead in engaging with FRSs and key partners on the complex issue that varies significantly throughout the UK.

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Have a strong and consistent voice on the issues of Arson and Deliberate Fire Setting
  • Actively engage in our multi-agency approach to promote NFCCs strategy to strengthen the guidance and activity in this area.
  • Work with FRSs and partners to produce and update relevant guidance and resources to assist in good practice.

Be responsible for updating the NFCC Prevention Committee and its workstreams on current challenges, best practice and opportunities, all with the overall objectives in this area. This includes the areas of Home Safety, Children and Young People and Anti-Social Behaviour.

We are looking for a strategic manager who has:

  • Experience of engaging at a national level with multiple stakeholders and the wider industry sector.
  • A good understanding of the current Fire Setting and Deliberate Fire Strategy at a local and/or national level.
  • A great communicator, who has a real passion for this area of prevention.
  • Has previous experience of bringing partners together to achieve a common goal.
