Introduction
Consultation on NFCC Protection Guidance Prohibition Notices Pilot Document
This document is intended for use by fire and rescue authorities. It provides advice and guidance to inspecting officers and fire safety teams on the topic of Prohibition Notices (PN) under Article 31 of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (as amended) (FSO).
Protection Guidance products are produced by the National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC) and are intended to provide an up-to-date source of information and guidance on a range of protection topics.
Protection Guidance documents are created with and for fire and rescue services. They act as benchmarks of good practice and may be referenced and used by His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabularies and Fire and Rescue Services (HMICFRS), and possibly by other organisations, public inquiries and in judicial proceedings.
Protection Guidance documents are intended to be used by suitably qualified, experienced and competent fire safety inspecting officers to help support effective enforcement, conformity, and consistency. They will also be a useful learning resource for inspecting officers in training, and may be used to inform training course content.
Your participation is greatly appreciated. Your insights will help ensure NFCC Enforcement Guidance continues to reflect the highest standards of professional practice in fire safety.
