About the role
We are seeking to fill an upcoming temporary vacancy for the position of Corporate Communications Manager for a period of up to 12 months.
The successful individual will be an integral part of the Corporate Communications Team, and report to the Head of Data and Communications. The role will provide leadership of communications activities to enable the service to meet its vision of āCreating the Safest Communityā, through the delivery of Service Strategy and CRMP.

As the Media and Communications Manager, you will:
⢠Be responsible for developing and leading the Serviceās internal and external communications and engagement activities across the Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service;
⢠Support the successful delivery of the Serviceās Strategy, and strategic goals and priorities, by:
– driving and managing a range of communications activities;
– contributing to strategic planning and evaluation activities;
– providing comprehensive, professional advice and support to the Service;
– managing the Corporate Communications Team.
We are seeking a candidate who has demonstrable experience of:
⢠Working in public relations, journalism, media or communications environment within a complex organisation
⢠Managing and leading a communications team, with responsibility for both people and process
⢠Liaising with the media / press, with examples of successful outcomes
⢠Managing a team workload, including competing demands and priorities
⢠The development and implementation of internal and external strategic communications
⢠Providing advice and guidance to senior management
⢠Delivering multi-faceted media training
⢠Managing content management systems / websites.
