Lead Officer for Fire Control

Background:
NFCC are looking to recruit an individual to the role of Fire Control Lead. The position reports to NFCC’s Operational Communications Strategic Board, which in turn reports to the Operational Preparedness Response and Resilience Committee.

This role will lead in engaging with the Lead Officers within their portfolio, FRSs, NFCC hub leads and key partners on various and complex issues across the UK, and will be the chair of NFCC Mobilising Officers Group .

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Have a strong and consistent voice on the issues of Fire Control
  • Actively engage in our multi-agency approach to promote NFCC’s strategy to strengthen the guidance and activity in this area, emphasising the critical role of Fire Controls in ensuring the resilience and efficiency of fire and rescue service emergency response.
  • Work with FRSs and partners to produce and update relevant guidance, position statements and resources to assist in good practice.

 

The role involves:

  • Leading on matters relating to Fire Control
  • Chair of the NFCC Mobilising Officers Group
  • Working with relevant external organisations to develop and maintain relationships with FRSs
  • Reporting to NFCC Operational Communications Strategic Board (OCSB), escalating matters for strategic decision-making when appropriate
  • Communicating important matters from NFCC Operational Communications Strategic Board (OCSB) ensuring the dissemination of strategic guidance across the sector Identifying opportunities to collaborate with other NFCC Leads on related topics

We are looking for an experienced manager who has:

  • Experience of engaging at a national level with multiple stakeholders and the wider industry sector.
  • A good understanding of the current strategy, campaigns and challenges in this area at a local and/or national level.
  • A good understanding of the operational and tactical issues and difference in approach required across the UK’s devolved nations.
  • A great communicator, who has a real passion for the work of fire controls and the Mobilising Officers Group
  • Has previous experience of bringing partners together to achieve a common goal.
