Building Safety Regulator - FRS Hourly Rates

Hourly rates chargeable by Fire & Rescue Services in England for work done for the Building Safety Regulator in respect of advice requested under Section 13 of the Building Safety Act 2022

 

2025/2026

The hourly rate for Fire & Rescue Service staff chargeable from 01 April 2025 to 31 March 2026 is £151.00 + VAT per hour.

Please note, in previous years, fire & rescue services have charged different rates for different roles (e.g. Inspecting Officers, fire safety engineers and senior fire safety engineers). In 2025, these rates have been aggregated into a single rate for all roles.

2024/2025

The hourly rates for Fire & Rescue Service staff chargeable from 01 April 2024 to 31 March 2025 are as follows:

  • For advice given by a Fire Safety Inspector – £114 plus VAT per hour
  • For advice given by a Fire Safety Engineer – £109 plus VAT per hour
  • For advice given by a Senior Fire Safety Engineer – £128 plus VAT per hour

2023/2024

The hourly rates for Fire & Rescue Service staff chargeable from 01 October 2023 to 31 March 2024 are as follows:

  • For advice given by a Fire Safety Inspector – £106 plus VAT per hour
  • For advice given by a Fire Safety Engineer – £103 plus VAT per hour
  • For advice given by a Senior Fire Safety Engineer – £122 plus VAT per hour

Please note, these rates are reviewed and amended from time to time.

These charges are made in accordance with the provision of the Building Safety Act 2022 and the Building Safety (Regulator’s Charges) Regulations 2023.
