Fire Chiefs Pay Tribute to Those Affected by Los Angeles Wildfires

Responding to the wildfires in Los Angeles, National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC) Chair, Mark Hardingham, said:

“Our thoughts are with all those who have been affected by the wildfires in Los Angeles, particularly those who have lost their lives in the most tragic of circumstances.

“We are also thinking of those who have lost their homes and their businesses, those who have been evacuated, the communities that have already been devastated by the fires and those still under threat as the fires continue to spread.

“We have witnessed the tremendous bravery of firefighters and other emergency responders who are facing an impossible task in trying to bring the fires under control. I have passed on my personal thanks and those of UK firefighters to the Los Angeles Fire Chiefs who are leading the massive fire service response.

“We should all be concerned about the increasing rate of extreme weather events brought about by climate change, and the unprecedented risk it is presenting to communities.”
