Education Officer (Road Safety) – Tyne & Wear Fire and Rescue Service

About the role

We are seeking to fill an upcoming vacancy for a Education Officer (Road Safety) to support the development and delivery of our road safety education provision, helping to create safer communities across Tyne and Wear.

Reporting directly to the Education and Engagement Manager, you will plan, deliver and support a wide range of road safety education activities for children, young people and wider community groups. This includes delivering assemblies, structured education sessions and targeted interventions, ensuring all activity aligns with curriculum requirements, risk assessment standards and service policies.

The role also involves supporting the development of learning materials, organising and attending community events, liaising with internal and external partners, and completing the associated administration, reporting and compliance tasks that underpin a high‑quality education service. Throughout the role, there is a strong focus on safeguarding, health and safety, and representing the Service positively at meetings, events and engagement activities.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to the TWFRS Values of Safety, Integrity, Inclusivity and Learning, and champion these in their day‑to‑day work. They will also demonstrate and the highest standards of ethical behaviours and champion these in their day-to-day work in compliance with our ethical code of conduct.

As a Road Safety Education Officer you will:

• Deliver a range of educational sessions focusing on road safety, including session interventions and programme, ensuring all activities and practices meets the requirements of the curriculum, risk-assessments or awarding bodies.
• Assist in the promotion of the education programmes, organising and participating in local community events to promote and deliver education activities and community fire safety education as appropriate.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate the delivery of the education programmes.

We are seeking a candidate who has demonstrable experience of:

• Working with children, young people or adults in an educational, community or engagement setting.
• Managing behaviour and maintaining appropriate boundaries in a group environment.
• Delivering presentations to varied audiences.

Salary: £29,540 to £31,022 per annum + benefits (Pro-rata)
