About this role:Â
We’re looking for an experienced and detail-driven Finance Reporting & Controls Manager to play a key role in leading our finance operations. Acting as Deputy to the Head of Finance, you’ll take ownership of ledger integrity, financial controls, and reporting, ensuring our finance function delivers accurate, reliable, and timely outputs.Â
This is an exciting opportunity to combine hands-on financial oversight with process improvement and team leadership in a fully remote environment.Â
Key Responsibilities:Â
- Oversee all core finance operations including general ledger, purchase ledger, sales ledger, banking, and balance sheet processesÂ
- Act as Deputy to the Head of Finance, supporting decision-making and operational leadershipÂ
- Review and authorise bank payments, ensuring strong controls and compliance are maintainedÂ
- Produce accurate monthly and ad hoc financial reports, reconciliations, and working papersÂ
- Lead improvements to reporting and financial processes, leveraging Excel and Power QueryÂ
- Contribute to finance system enhancements and migrations, maintaining data integrity and controlsÂ
- (Post-probation) Line manage and support three finance team membersÂ

About you:Â
We’re looking for someone who combines technical expertise with strong judgement and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.Â
Essential:Â
- Fully qualified accountant (or equivalent experience)Â
- Strong experience in financial accounting, including ledgers, reconciliations, and controlsÂ
- Advanced Excel skills (e.g. pivot tables, formulas, data manipulation) with experience creating Power QueriesÂ
- Demonstrated ability to produce accurate financial reports and maintain strong audit trailsÂ
- Experience working in a controlled financial environment with a high level of accuracyÂ
Desirable:Â
- Experience within the charity sector, including knowledge of Charities SORPÂ
- Experience of working in a mainly grant funded charityÂ
- Experience managing or supervising staff, ideally in a remote settingÂ
- Involvement in finance system implementation or transformation projects
