Contract: Permanent, Full Time (37 hours per week)

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service is seeking two Home Safety Technicians to join our Community Safety Team. Working directly with individuals who are often experiencing significant vulnerability, complex health or social care needs, reduced mobility, social isolation, mental health challenges, hoarding behaviours, or other circumstances that increase their risk of fire and harm within the home.

About the role:
As a Home Safety Technician, you will deliver person-centred Home Safety Visits across Devon and Somerset, helping residents identify and reduce fire and wellbeing risks in their homes.

Working closely with partner agencies, healthcare professionals, local authorities, and emergency service colleagues you will;

  • Carry out holistic home safety visit and risk assessments.
  • Provide practical fire safety advice, education and interventions
  • Install and maintain fire safety equipment and bespoke risk-reduction solutions where appropriate.
  • Support vulnerable individuals through referrals, signposting and partnership working.
  • Contribute to safeguarding activity and multi-agency approaches to reducing risk.
  • Manage your own workload and maintain accurate records and assessments.

  • Understands the importance of confidentiality, safeguarding, equality and inclusion.

Due to the nature of the role, the successful applicants will be required to undertake an Enhanced DBS check.
