Secondee position – National Counter Terrorism Testing and Exercising Team – Home Office
Expressions of interest are invited for a secondee position at Station Manager for the National Counter Terrorism Testing and Exercising Team. Appointment will also be subject to a formal interview.
The secondee will work with Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP), based in the Operational Development Unit (ODU), West Midlands.
Role
To design, develop and co-ordinate a national programme of Counter Terrorism (CT) testing and exercise activity that ensures the emergency services and partner organisations are effectively trained, tested and prepared to respond to major incidents, aligning with national resilience standards and operational best practice.

Working arrangements
Applicants must either hold Security Check (SC) vetting and Non Police Personnel Vetting – Level 3 (NPPV3) or be prepared to obtain these prior to commencing the role.
The secondment role will ideally commence on 1 September 2026 for a two-year period. The role is being funded by the Home Office and the providing service will be able to charge the cost recovery.
The secondee will report in service to the NFCC National Security Coordinator, with multi-agency oversight from the CTP Senior National Organisational Learning & Exercising Manager.
Working hours will primarily be between 08.00 and 16.00 Monday to Friday, with a flexible working policy to meet demands, which may include extended hours outside normal core hours.
The secondee should be prepared to travel nationally on a regular basis to perform their role; this may involve working extended hours at locations throughout the UK and could include international travel if required.
Please note that as this is a secondment opportunity, flexible duty payments will be subject to home service arrangements.
Salary: National pay scales as per grey book conditions
