ICT Lead
Background
The current ICT Lead, Julian Martin has stepped down as he retires, after several years in the role during which the ICT Leads forum was formed. Work has been undertaken to build relationships with partners including Home Office, MHCLG, techUK and Blue Light Commercial to support peer knowledge exchange and the development of the sector, so we are seeking someone to step into that role and take on the next phase of this work.
Governance Structure
The ICT Leads Forum meets quarterly, alongside the Cyber Leads Forum. Both forums feed into the NFCC Digital, Technology and Cyber Board and then into the NFCC DDaT Committee to shape and contribute to the work of the NFCC DDaT team on behalf of the sector. The holder of the position will work closely with the NFCC Digital, Technology and Cyber Lead, Gillian Fyfe.
Key elements of this role include:
- Engaging with sector ICT Leads across services and encouraging active participation.
- Chairing and developing the quarterly ICT Leads Forum with support from NFCC.
- Sharing relevant updates with the Cyber Leads Forum.
- Being a member of and participating in, the NFCC Digital, Technology and Cyber Board and attending the DDaT Committee when necessary.
- Building and maintaining relationships with colleagues in agencies including Home Office, MHCLG and HMICFRS.
- Driving adoption of the Digital and Cyber Fire Standard and associated guidance.
- Supporting and/or leading working groups when required, with support from NFCC to produce and update relevant guidance, position statements and resources to assist in good practice.
- Having a strong and consistent voice on the requirements of the sector to build and maintain excellent ICT provision.
- Supporting the delivery of improvement activities across the sector.
- Supporting the growth of communication platforms, including the ICT Leads’ Teams Channel.
You should have:
- Experience of the operational and strategic delivery of ICT/DDaT delivery in fire and rescue, and an understanding of the key drivers and challenges.
- A good understanding of the issues and difference in approaches in devolved nations and varying governance models across the UK.
- The passion to drive change in the sector and bring others with you.
- Experience of engaging at national level with multiple stakeholders and the wider industry sector, including central government.
