Background:
NFCC is looking to recruit an individual to the role of International Affairs Lead. The position sits under NFCC’s Improvement Committee, and reports to the Committee Chair. This role will lead in engaging with the Lead Officers within their portfolio, FRSs, NFCC hub leads and key partners on various and complex issues across the UK and internationally.
As the Lead for International Affairs, the candidate will also engage with other FRS, organisations and governments outside of the UK to share UK practice and learn from international partners, which can support continuous improvement in UKFRS.
The successful candidate will support the three key areas of focus of the NFCC International Group:
- Learning and sharing- sharing UK expertise to assist international colleagues, specifically in developing nations but not exclusively.
- UK Economic Prosperity- assisting UK trade in the global marketplace by working with government departments to increase UK commercial exposure to overseas requirements
- Assist with the NFCC’s sustainability requirements to run the charitable objectives.
The successful candidate will be required to:
- Have a strong and consistent voice on the issues of International Affairs.
- Actively engage in our multi-agency approach to promote NFCC’s strategy to strengthen the guidance and activity in this area.
- Work with FRS and partners to produce and update relevant guidance, position statements and resources to assist in good practice.
- Feedback international learning and sharing
- Raise awareness of UK FRS and NFCC outside of the UK
- Support the long-term sustainability of the NFCC as an organisation
The role involves:
- Leading on matters relating to International Affairs
- Working with relevant external organisations to develop and maintain relationships with FRSs at a strategic level.
- Liaison with key government departments to support UK priorities
- Identify opportunities to collaborate with other NFCC Leads on related topics
- Attending and providing updates to Improvement Committee, including delivering papers when required for information or decision.
We are looking for a strategic manager who has:
- Experience of engaging at a national level with multiple stakeholders and the wider industry sector. This includes central government.
- A good understanding of the current strategy, campaigns and challenges in this area at a local and/or national level.
- A good understanding of the issues and difference in approach required across the UK’s devolved nations.
- A great communicator, who has a real passion for International Affairs
- Has previous experience of bringing partners together to achieve a common goal.
Existing experience of working with international partners and FRS, including through the International Group, would also be useful for the role.
