Public Policy
The NFCC Strategy and Policy Team work closely with the UK and devolved governments, Members of Parliament, and local government to improve public policy and legislation relating to fire and rescue services. Â
This includes safety in the built environment, the Grenfell Tower Inquiry, flooding, wildfires, road safety, climate change, firefighter health and safety, home fire safety, drowning prevention, energy technology and fire risk, and fire reform. Â
The Strategy and Policy Team ensure that the expertise of fire and rescue services is reflected in national decision-making. We work with subject-matter experts and senior leaders in fire and rescue services to understand the challenges they face and identify potential solutions. We then present those views to government departments, regulators, parliamentary committees, and other national partners.Â
We welcome contact from fire and rescue services, government departments, regulators, academic researchers, and partner organisations with an interest in improving public safety and supporting the work of the fire and rescue sector.Â
