“We are deeply saddened to learn of the death of Gavin Tomlinson, former Chief Fire Officer and Chief Executive at Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service.

“Gavin’s career was defined by unwavering commitment and exceptional leadership, both within Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service, and through his work with the National Fire Chiefs Council. His dedication to building safety, particularly during his time as Chair of the Protection Committee, has left a legacy that will continue to shape how we safeguard communities for years to come.

“Gavin was universally respected by colleagues across the fire and rescue service and was a friend to many, from leaders to those on the frontline. His contribution, integrity and humanity will leave a lasting mark on the UK fire and rescue service.

“At this difficult time, we send our deepest condolences to Gavin’s family, friends and former colleagues.”
