Policy Positions

Public policy is a crucial aspect of NFCC’s work to support UK fire and rescue services. The NFCC’s Strategy and Policy Team aims to effect policy change at a national level within the operating environment and legislative and regulatory frameworks of the UK fire and rescue sector. We engage with services, hear their views, and ensure these views achieve maximum impact through representation in the right places and at the right times. Through the timely and clear production of evidence-based advice, we aim to inform and influence national policymaking in line with the strategic objectives of UK fire and rescue services.

Our public policy position statements play a crucial role in communicating the collective views of UK fire and rescue services in key areas of public discourse.  NFCC provides a forum where all services can come together as part of a democratic structure to debate key issues and arrive at a collective position.

In doing so, we ensure that our positions carry the full weight and support of our membership and benefit from the best possible technical and professional advice that UK fire and rescue services have to offer.

This is a collective process that provides the professional voice of UK fire and rescue services.

These will be updated on a regular basis as new positions are agreed and changes are made to current ones.
