Health and Wellbeing Advisor – Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service is looking for a Health and Wellbeing Advisor to enhance our People Services team based at our Service Headquarters in Exeter.  You will join us on a full-timepermanent basis working 37 hours per week. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £35,745 – £38,223 per annum.

About the role:

The Health and Wellbeing Advisor is a key role within the People Services Department. We are looking for a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team, with particular emphasis on mental health and proactive promotion and delivery of wellbeing projects across the Service.

You will have a person-centred approach and be required to identify and coordinate wellbeing interventions and support within the workplace, working alongside our HR Business Partners, you will contribute to the development and implementation of policies and practices and enhance wellbeing provisions to positively influence attendance levels.

Key responsibilities of the Health and Wellbeing Advisor:

  • Participation with various staff groups concerning mental wellbeing and providing advice as appropriate. This will involve supporting line managers to carry out their wellbeing responsibilities and promoting positive employee relations by advising managers and employees on wellbeing matters in line with best practice and legislation.
  • Assisting in the development and delivery of wellbeing initiatives to improve service delivery, promoting the support available and identifying potential gaps and solutions for improving health and wellbeing, making them accessible to employees and managers.
  • Working in partnership with other Emergency Blue Light Services or similar organisations to research and review wellbeing support provisions.
  • Supporting the management of Service wellbeing groups, to ensure adequate supervision and training delivery.
  • Maintain statistics and management information to assist in assessing the effectiveness of

wellbeing provision offered by the service. Identify trends or potential gaps in wellbeing provision and research options available to resolve issues.
