Motorcycle Safety Week 2024
Information to support the week in 2024 will be available soon.
Motorcycles make up around 1% of road traffic, but it is estimated in 2023 accounted for 20% of road fatalities and around 12% of road casualties in Great Britain.
Motorcycle Safety Week raises awareness of the safety messaging and the range of courses, including Biker Down, available to riders to support the reduction of rider fatalities and injuries in the UK.
Through increased awareness we aim to encourage people to improve their riding skills, adopt safer habits and provide education to help people respond affectively in the event of an incident. The focused week of action is scheduled to coincide with motorcycle activity as weather improves, and we generally start to see an increase in motorcycle casualties.
The week is also an opportunity to spread the word about the work of Fire Bike Teams and the work they do throughout the year to support riders and highlight some of the support and advice they can provide.
RoSPA – Novice Riders Hub
In 2023 the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents launched a new information hub for riders which was supported by NFCC:

“The launch of the Novice Riders Hub during NFCC’s National Motorcycle Safety Week is fantastic news.
“This one-stop-shop is a valuable tool in supporting our work and that of fire and rescue services. It will help us to engage with and share trusted advice to those motorcyclists most at risk and their families.”
